Southington police have issued court summons for two youths that officers said were involved in starting a barn fire at 103 Norton St. Wednesday evening. Sgt. Lowell DePalma said the youths were contacted Thursday and charged with reckless burning. Reckless burning is not considered arson, but is a class D felony and is issued when according to state statutes "an actor starts a fire or causes an explosion and thereby recklessly causes damage to the property or building of another." Three fire companies and headquarters responded to the blaze. Norton Street was closed for about two hours and traffic was detoured down local streets.
