Volunteers serve up hundreds, if not thousands, of bowls of soup Wednesday night at the Bread for Life annual Soup Nite held at Southington High School. It is one of the largest fundraisers for the food program and many school clubs get involved with making it a success.

Mission to Uganda

Dorie Conlon, a native of Plantsville, left, makes a new friend during her 2008 two-month mission trip to the Dominican Republic. This summer, Conlon will be spending two months at the Kampala Children's Centre in Uganda. There will be a fundraiser for Conlon this Sunday, May 23, beginning at 2 p.m., at Smokin' with Chris, 59 W. Center St., with live music and entertainment, Ugandan food and a silent auction. Motorcyclists raise thousands for Multiple Sclerosis

The Iron Maidens & The Band of Brothers MS Motorcycle Ride team revved up with hundreds of other bikers Aug. 3, for the eighth annual National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter MS Motorcycle Ride at Cadillac Ranch in Southington. The team also revved up its fundraising efforts, more than doubling that raised by the team in 2007.
