The youth group at First Baptist Church of Southington is living outside this weekend in cardboard boxes and some are fasting to experience the living conditions of some people in town and across the nation. The group is collecting food donations in a large barrel that is outside the church, located at 581 Meriden Ave. Donations will be given to Bread for Life and Southington Community Services. The teens will be there until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

At least 100 walkers stepped out Oct. 25 during the Southington CROP Walk to raise funds for food pantries. Lois Hall, pictured in green sweatshirt, is a member of First Congregational Church of Southington and has been the top fundraiser for years.
