Flanders Elementary School hosted the annual Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 12. The event is organized by fifth-grade teacher Dan Murzdek. Students brought veterans to a breakfast provided by the staff and appeared in a video presentation thanking veterans for their service. The orchestra and advanced band performed patriotic music. Capt. Alyssa Kelleher, commander of Fox Co. 186BSB which deploys to Afghanistan next week, questions the students during her keynote address.

Fourth-graders from Flanders School performed holiday songs during their winter concert on Dec. 3, led by music teacher Darlene Baer. In addition to traditional songs such as, "Jingle Bells" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas," the students began the evening with a crowd favorite, "Born to Shop."
