Parking ban in place
Effective immediately, the Town of Southington has issued an indefinite parking ban on all town roads. This parking ban will remain effect until further notice. Motorists are asked to utilize driveways and parking lots until the ban is lifted.

The timing of tomorrow's predicted storm presents challenges for announcements of closing and program cancellations at Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA, so here is the plan:

Southington Public Schools will close early today, Friday, Jan. 7, using the unplanned early dismissal schedule. All after school activities and PM Kindergarten are also cancelled.

Icy road conditions have forced area schools to open late Tuesday and police are warning drivers to take it slow following a busy overnight that included several minor accidents.

Emergency parking ban
The Southington Police Department instituted an emergency parking ban Friday afternoon due to winter weather.
"Parking is not allowed on any of the streets due to the snow storm," said Southington Police Spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma.
The parking ban is authorized by town ordinance 12-73.
