Effective immediately, the Town of Southington has issued an indefinite parking ban on all town roads. This parking ban will remain effect until further notice. Motorists are asked to utilize driveways and parking lots until the ban is lifted.

We sent this picture to our parents today - Sunday, Dec. 26 - after I did the driveway for the first time this afternoon after the storm started and before it got too bad. Both sets of parents just moved to Florida earlier this year. Mine from Watertown and my girlfriend's from Spring Lake here in town. Emergency parking ban

Effective 1 p.m. Friday

The Southington Police Department instituted an emergency parking ban Friday afternoon due to winter weather.

"Parking is not allowed on any of the streets due to the snow storm," said Southington Police Spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma.

The parking ban is authorized by town ordinance 12-73.
