The Southington Police Department is pleased to announce that we will once again be conducting the Stuff a Cruiser event to benefit families in Southington. All gifts collected will be donated to Southington Community Services. The gift drive will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Wal-Mart located at 235 Queen St.. The Stuff a Cruiser event will be accepting gifts for all ages. Please donate a new unwrapped gift if you can. We hope to see you at Wal-Mart Dec. 10. Happy Holidays!

Police charge man with forgery

On March 1, at approx 8:05 a.m., Southington Police arrested Joseph Mantini, age 47, of 862 Moss Road, Cheshire, and charged him with 61 counts of first-degree larceny and first-degree forgery. His court date was March 1 and he had been held on a $25,000.00. It was alleged that Mantini had forged checks and stolen approximately $19,758.32 from a local nursery, according to police.

Missing man found in Plantsville

A Manchester man, visiting his mother in Southington on a weekend release from Bidwell Care Center has been found.

George Lukasik, 39, was reported missing at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday after leaving his mother's home on Whitlock Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.

Police Chief Jack Daly announced today, Oct. 10, that under the authority of the Southington Board of Police Commissioners, he has instituted a restructuring of the command level of the Police Department. Included in this restructuring is the promotion of Eric Daigle to the rank of captain. In the new structure of the department, Daigle will join Capt. William Palmieri and Capt.
