Accident sends three people to hospitals

On Wednesday, May 5 at approximately 11:47 p.m., a serious two-car motor vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Meriden Waterbury Road and Old Turnpike Road.

Elizabeth McField, age 33, of Meriden, was operating a 2004 Dodge Durango traveling eastbound on Meriden Waterbury Road  when it struck a 1999 Ford Taurus operated by Gregory Schena, age 27, of Plantsville. The Taurus was traveling north on Old Turnpike Road when it was struck by the Durango.

Brian Zentek, age 27, of Southington, was a passenger in the Taurus.

McField and Zentek were transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment for their
injuries.

Schena sustained critical injuries and was transported by Life Star
to St. Francis Hospital.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Southington Accident
Investigation Team. Witnesses are asked to call Officer Jason Plourde of the
Southington Police Department at (860) 621-0101.
