American Legion Post 72 garners multiple awards

American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 of Southington received numerous awards on July 10 at the 90th annual Awards Ceremony during the Department of Connecticut annual Convention held in Rocky Hill. These awards are named after past American Legion Department of Connecticut Commanders.
The James A. Weir Plaque is awarded annually to that American Legion Post doing the best work in youth activities as set up in the Americanism Program, (American Legion Boys' State; Oratorical Contest; Boy Scouts; 4-H Club: Baseball; S.A.L.; Junior-sponsored music and similarly sponsored work), with the total accomplishments in any or all of these programs to govern the award.
The Henry S. Bialoglowy Plaque is awarded annually to the American Legion Post, which according to Department Awards Committee rules, shall have made the greatest contribution to the display, promotion, presentation and education on the American flag.
The Arthur J. Kelly Plaque is awarded annually to that American Legion Post showing the greatest accomplishment in community services to the benefit of the entire community
The Leo M. Hindsley Plaque is awarded annually to that American Legion Post having the best overall Community Service Program in their community.
The Arthur St. John Plaque is awarded annually to the individual S.A.L. member who, according to the Department Awards Committee, has been chosen as the most Outstanding Son in a Squadron of The Sons of The American Legion for the current year. This is to be accomplished by each Squadron (or Post) submitting a nomination to the Department Awards Committee who shall judge such nominations on the outstanding manner in which the S.A.L. member has contributed to the programs of the S.A.L. and The American Legion. This was awarded to Keith Frisk of Squadron 72 Southington.
The Peter Loux Sergeant-At-Arms Of The Year Award is awarded to Post, District or Department Sgt.-at-Arms who, in the opinion of the awards committee, exemplifies the highest values of service to the American Legion, community, State and National, along with excellence and leadership. This was awarded to Thomas Nedjoika of Post 72 Southington
The Legionnaire Of the Year Award - Three nominations are preferred by the Awards Committee for the award to be made. This award is based on activities of nominee and outstanding and unusual service performed by the nominee to The American Legion during the year ending since last convention. This was awarded to Steve Pintarich Post 72 Southington
The Eliott N. Morris Plaque is awarded annually to that American Legion Post of more than 500 memberships which on the closing day of the Mid-Winter Conference has the greatest percentage of Quota into Department.
The Raymond R. Bigelow Plaque is awarded annually to the Post doing the most to promote the VAVS and RHVS programs in the VA Medical Centers and Rocky Hill.
