Annual grange fair Saturday

The Southington Grange Community Fair will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Southington Grange Hall located at the corner of Summit Street and Knowles Avenue in the Plantsville section of Southington. The 2011 fair will feature entertainment throughout the day and exhibits in needlework, baking, photography, flowers, vegetables, crafts and canning with an evening auction.
The event kicks off in the morning with a pancake breakfast that will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. A snack bar will be open throughout the day and the famous chicken barbecue will be serving from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets for the Chicken Barbecue are limited to 150 people, and are on a first-come first-serve basis.
An outdoor community flea market will be featured with dozens of vendors and educational exhibits including show specials from the New England Ghost Hunters Guild, Snow White Equipment of Plainville, and Bobby the Magician, as well as llamas and other animals for children. The fair is free and the public is welcome.
Call Mary at (860) 628-9346 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for further information, barbecue tickets or a schedule of events. Exhibits will be accepted Friday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., and again Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. Exhibits can be removed on Saturday after 5 p.m.
