Bridge construction on Interstate 84 in Plainville/Southington

The state Department of Transportation announced today that a bridge maintenance project will be performed on I-84 (eastbound) from Exit 31 to 34 in Southington/Plainville. This project is scheduled to take place on Monday, Aug. 30 and continue through Thursday, Sept. 9. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Monday – Thursday evenings). No work will take place on Monday, September 6, 2010 due to the Labor Day holiday. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
