Drive through Living Nativity - Mary Our Queen Youth Ministry Program has scheduled a "Drive through Living Nativity" for Friday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Over 55 members of the youth ministry have volunteered for this event. Donations of non-perishable food items for the Southington Bread for Life food pantry will be collected. The event is located at Mary Our Queen Church parking lot, 248 Savage St., Plantsville.
The Citizen early deadline - The Southington Citizen will have early deadline for the Friday, Dec. 26 issue. The advertising deadline is Friday, Dec. 19, 5 p.m., and the deadline for letters, news and photos is Monday, Dec. 22, noon. The newspaper will be delivered to the homes Friday, Dec. 26. Orchard Valley Garden Club - The Orchard Valley Garden Club meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m., starting in September at the Southington Library, 255 Main St. The club is also a charter member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut. A Holiday Fantasy - Children of all ages (children under the age of 5 must be seated with an adult) are invited to attend "A Holiday Fantasy," a Spring Valley Puppet Theater presentation, Monday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m., in the Café Corner at the Southington Public Library, 255 Main St. In-person registration is required for this event.

Red Cross blood drive - St. Dominic Church has scheduled an American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 1 to 6 p.m., in the church's Geraghty Parish Center, at the corner of Flanders Road and Laning Street in Southington. People who are healthy, age 17 or over, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated whole blood in the last eight weeks, call Pat Monahan at (860) 621-4939 to schedule an appointment.

Nursery school open house - Plantsville Nursery School, 109 Church St., will be hosting an open house for interested families or those already registered for the 2009-2010 school year, Sunday, Jan. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. Parents may register their children for the 3-year-old class which meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings, or the 4-year-old classes, which meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings or afternoons. Celiac support group - More and more people are diagnosed with Celiac disease or wheat or gluten allergies. A new group has formed in the Southington area - the Central Connecticut Celiac Support Group. The group will meet on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. for a pot-luck dinner at Mulberry Gardens, 85 Mulberry St., Southington. Get Organized program - The Southington Library, 255 Main St., has scheduled a Get Organized program on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. in the lower level program room. GO is a national program sponsored by the National Association of Professional Organizers that teaches techniques to simplify and reduce clutter in the home and office. Registration is required.

Legion meeting - The American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, 64 Main St., Southington, is scheduled to meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the upper lounge of the Post Home just off the Town Green. Members and veterans who would like to be members are welcome to come to a meeting and become familiar with the good work the American Legion is doing for and in the community, for God and country, and for those who have served the country and are presently in need of help.

Swing/ballroom dancing - A session of eight beginners and intermediate swing/ballroom dance classes are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, 9 and 23, March 2, 9, 16 and 23, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at North Center School, 240 N.
