Robert W. Brady

Robert W. Brady, 82, of Southington, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial, Southington. He was the husband of the late Patricia (O'Shea) Brady.

Born in Bridgeport on Oct. 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Frank and Bessie (Whitney) Brady. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 5th Ranger Battalion. For 35 years, he taught at the King Philip Jr. High School in West Hartford. He was an award winning state champion fifer in several Drum Corps, including Lancraft in New Haven. He was also an avid bowler in Southington.

He is survived by his five children, Eileen Esposito and Mark Brady, both of Wolcott, Evelyn Reeve and Noreen Cochran, both of Prospect, and Christine Schumacher, of Bristol; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Justin, Randy, Ryan, Katie, Diana, Sheila, April, Beth, Sean and James; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Reilly and Trent; and a nephew, Edmund Brady.

Services were held April 4 at St. Aloysius Church. Burial, with full military honors, was be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.

DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, was in charge of arrangements.
