Leonard H. Anderson

Leonard H. Anderson, of Southington, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. He was the husband of 61 years Betty (Varney) Anderson.

He was born May 20, 1925, in New Britain, to the late Harold A. and Sara (Lundin) Anderson. He attended New Britain High School and Hillyer College, and faithfully served in the Pacific during World War II as a staff sergeant in the 600th Air Engineers Squadron of the Army Air Corps. He retired from Southern New England Telephone Co. in 1984 after 36 years of dedicated service. He was a loyal member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Southington for 56 years, where he served as senior warden, junior warden, vestryperson and chairman of buildings and grounds, and he represented Saint Paul's on the Board of Directors of Wheeler Village.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Peter L. Anderson and his wife, Margaret, of Marion; and David A. Anderson and his wife, Rose, of Salem; a daughter Elaine Anderson (Lemasters), of South Windsor; his grandchildren, Jared P. Anderson, Sara L. Anderson and Jason D. Anderson; two brothers, Robert G. Anderson, of Newington, and Donald A. Anderson, of Beach Haven, N.J.; and a sister, Marilyn E. Anderson, of Cromwell. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard E. Anderson; and his son-in-law Harry L. Lemasters.

Services were held April 10 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Southington. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
