Phyllis A. Lokites

Phyllis A. Lokites, formerly of Naugatuck, died Tuesday, April 2, 2008, at the Southington Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Waterbury, a daughter of the late John and Catherine Lokites. She was retired from Travelers Insurance Co. where she worked in the accounting department for many years. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Southington and a former communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck. She served as the editor of the Spring Lake Village newsletter and a former volunteer at the Bread for Life Soup Kitchen in Southington and also for the Naugatuck Ecumenical Christmas Dinner.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Lokites, of Southington; a brother-in-law, Thomas W. Carlson, of Bristol; two nieces, Phyllis Carlson, of Bristol and Janet Carlson, of Bristol; a nephew, Thomas J. Carlson and his wife, Norma, of Plainville; two grand-nieces, Emily Carlson, of Plainville, and Calista Carlson, of Bristol; several cousins; her special canine companion, Leo; special friend, Cathy Cushman, a resident of Haven Healthcare in Waterbury; and many friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Joan Lokites Carlson.

Services were held April 5 at Immaculate Conception Church, Southington. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck at the convenience of the family.
