The election department has announced that a mandated audit of two voting districts (South End and Strong Schools) will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 in the town council chambers, second floor of Town Hall, 75 Main St., Southington, starting at 9 a.m. until completion.

The idea of this audit is to verify the machine counts for the dual primaries held on Aug. 10. Ballots for the affected offices will be hand counted and the results checked against the machine tally counts from the primaries.

The offices to be audited are: Republican District One (South End), Attorney General; Democratic District One, Comptroller; Republican District 12 (Strong), Representative in Congress; Democratic District 12, Lieutenant Governor.

The public is welcome to observe the process.
