Memorial Day observances in Southington

The American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, will sponsor the annual Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 30. Members interested in participating are asked to meet at 6:30 a.m. at the post home, 64 Main St., for coffee and doughnuts.

American Legion members will conduct services at the following locations and times: 7:30 a.m. Panthorn Park; 7:45 a.m. Wonx Spring; 8 a.m. Quinnipiac; 8:20 a.m. Recreation Park; 8:30 a.m. South End Cemetery; 8:35 a.m. Immaculate Conception; 8:50 a.m. Southington Care Center.

The Southington Marine Corps League will conduct services at the following locations and times: 7:30 a.m. Memorial Park; 7:45 a.m. Oak Hill Cemetery; 8:05 a.m. Holy Trinity; 8:15 a.m. West Street Cemetery; 8:35 a.m. St. Thomas Cemetery.

Members interested in marching in the Memorial Day parade are asked to meet at 10 a.m. in the Derynoski School parking lot on Eden Avenue. Step-off time will be at 10:30 a.m. Dress uniform is required. Anyone interested in marching should call Post 72, Senior Vice Commander George Holyst, at (860) 628-0168.

Memorial services on the town green, in front of the Legion home, will immediately follow the parade.
