The history of the Miss Southington Pageant and the year-long reign of the current Miss Connecticut, Sharalynn Kuziak, will be featured at the Southington Library throughout June. She will also make a personal appearance at the library on Wednesday, June 9, 7 p.m., to talk about her experiences as Miss Connecticut and about the promotion of her issue of concern, which she calls Walkin’ on Sunshine, the power of music to heal both body and soul.

A photographic exhibit will provide a glimpse into her life as Miss Connecticut, from winning the state crown last June through her preparation for the Miss America Pageant and the national competition in Las Vegas. The Miss Connecticut Scholarship Program is an official preliminary of the Miss America Organization, the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.

Registration is suggested. Visit the online calendar at www.southingtonlibrary.org, or call (860) 628-0947, ext. 5, the reference information desk.

Kuziak’s reign will come to an end Saturday, June 26 when she crowns her successor. The Miss Connecticut Scholarship Pageant and Connecticut's Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held June 24, 25 and 26 at the Garde Arts Center in New London, visit www.missctamerica.org.
