A local man is facing arson charges in connection with a Bristol barn fire, Bristol police said.

Jeffrey Platt, 48, of Sycamore Road, Southington, was arrested by warrant Friday on charges of first-degree arson, third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief in a May 7 fire at a barn attached to a house at 56 Downs St., Bristol, police said.

Bristol police responded to a report of a disturbance complaint in the area of Downs Street and South Street May 7 to find a barn attached to the home engulfed in flames. Police were able to evacuate the occupants of the home. The barn was a total loss.
