Police Chief Jack Daly announced today, Oct. 10, that under the authority of the Southington Board of Police Commissioners, he has instituted a restructuring of the command level of the Police Department. Included in this restructuring is the promotion of Eric Daigle to the rank of captain. In the new structure of the department, Daigle will join Capt. William Palmieri and Capt. Gregory Simone at the command level of the Police Department. This reorganization will allow for the command to meet the everyday needs of the Department and to implement current and future goals for the continued improvement and efficiency of operations in servicing the residents of the Town of Southington, according to a press release from the chief.
Daigle, a Southington resident, is a former Connecticut State Trooper and an attorney who has specialized in the defense of law enforcement and the advisor for command level law enforcement. During his time with the State Police, he spent the majority of his career working in the areas of investigations, including years on assignment with the Department of Corrections and the Central District Major Crime Unit.
Daigle started with the Southington Police Department several years ago as a supernumerary officer after his vested retirement from the State Police. During the past few years, he has been responsible for assisting in the grant writing and policy revisions of the department. Daigle's responsibilities will include the Investigative Division, policy, accreditation and grant writing.
