Jitters Coffeehouse — Lisa Martin (acoustic folk rock music) will be performing at Jitters Coffeehouse, Queen St., Southington starting at 8 p.m.
Flower sale — The Southington Fire Department Engine Co. #5 will hold its annual flower sale Friday, April 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. The firehouse is located at 72 River St.

Sloper Cleanup Day — To get ready for the season, YMCA Camp Sloper is offering Spring Cleanup Day Saturday, April 3 (Rain date Saturday April 10th) from 8 a.m. 3 p.m. (come for the whole day or part of the day). Meet at the McLeod Pavilion. Projects will include trail maintenance, landscaping, raking, painting and other general cleanup jobs. Bring your own gloves, they will provide the rest. Easter Bunny visit — The Easter Bunny will be stopping by Caffe del Mondo, 550 N. Main St., Southington, on Saturday March 27 and April 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. Children and cameras welcome.

SACA event — Monday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. will be a Jewelry Workshop by Marge Muzyczka. You will be able to make a necklace, bracelet or earrings – your choice. All supplies will be provided, however if you have a beading board or other tools bring them. There is a different cost for SACA members for a necklace, bracelet and earrings. Newcomers and Neighbors Club — The Newcomers and Neighbors Club of Southington is a women's social club open to both new and life-long residents of Southington. Monthly events include Ladies' Night Out, Moms and Tots' Playgroup, Couples' Social and Book Club. Relay for Life fundraiser — There will be a Game Night Fundraiser to benefit PartyLite Relay for Life Friday, April 9, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Express, 120 Laning Street, Southington. There is a cost. Play PartyLite Bingo, L-C-R (the latest craze in dice games) and more. Prizes for the winners of all games. Grand Prize drawing at the end of the night valued at $85. PartyLite Product Raffles, Two Sisters gourmet snacks and exclusive deals on products. All proceeds to benefit Relay for Life. Little League tag sale/bottle drive — Southington North Baseball is holding a sports-oriented tag sale and a bottle and can drive on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Woodruff Street, Southington. Items for sale will include new and gently used baseball shirts, pants, hats, league logo items and other sports-related apparel, accessories and equipment. Proceeds will benefit Southington North Little League/Babe Ruth baseball.

Unico breakfast — The Unico Club of Southington will hold its Big Breakfast Buffet to benefit Unico charities Sunday, April 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Southington Calendar House on Pleasant St. The all-you-can-eat event includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, ham, bacon, sausage, corn beef hash, hash browns, toast, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice. There is a cost for this event. Tickets are for sale at Fasulo & Albini, CPA's, the Calendar House, from any Unico Member or by calling Dave Kanute at (860) 621-5494. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Fishing derby — The Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA Adventure Guides parent-child program will be holding their annual Fishing Derby at YMCA Camp Sloper on April 17, from 9 to 11 a.m., rain or shine. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Bait will be provided and awards will be handed out for Biggest Fish, First Catch, Best Cast and many more during the two-hour time period. All participants must pre-register at the Southington or Cheshire YMCAs. There is a slight cost for this event. Adventure Guide Members are free. For more information on YMCA Adventure Guides or the fishing derby at YMCA Camp Sloper, call Pat Rosin, Outdoor Center Program Director, at YMCA Camp Sloper (860) 621-8194, ext. 308 or email prosin@southington-cheshireymca.org.

Candidate forum — Connecticut Republican U.S. Senate candidate Vinny Forras will be featured at a candidate forum on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in Southington. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be sponsored by the Connecticut Grassroots Alliance, a coalition of more than two dozen activist groups dedicated to restoring fiscal sanity and preserving personal liberty. It will be hosted by Rusty Haigh and Joe Markley, Southington residents, and grassroots leaders who are also candidates for the state legislature.

Equestrian event — On April 18, the Hayes Equestrian Center in Plantsville we will be hosting their First Annual Spring Open Schooling Show at their farm. There is no cost. They will be hosting a fundraiser class at this show for Joey Savage, a young local boy who has been riding there for years and suffers from cerebral palsy.

Jensen’s trip — On Tuesday, April 20 the Italian Fest presents a lovely heartfelt collection of great music from an era of singers and performers that is still unmatched today. Favorites and great hit songs such as “And I love You So,” “Some Enchanted Evening” and “It’s Impossible” by Perry Como will give you chills at every rendition. Jimmy Mazz adds great songs like Andy Williams’ “Moon River,” The Four Aces,” “Love Is a Many Splendor Thing,” and Englebert Humperdinck’s “Man Without Love.” All the songs you love to hear. SACA events — Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be Learning How and When to Control or be Liberated by the Media of Watercolor - given by Marija McCarthy, a popular award-winning artist. This is a joint venture with Meriden Arts and Crafts Association and will be held at Gallery 53 in Meriden. Some knowledge of watercolor media is recommended. Genealogical meeting — On April 27, the Southington Genealogical Society welcomes Sheila Lafferty who will speak on Savvy Searching: Going Beyond the Basic Google Search Box. Sheila will give insider's tips to make your searching easier. The meeting will take place in the meeting room of Southington Police Headquarters. Refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge and no obligation to become a member. No reservations are necessary.

SACA event — Wednesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. will be a free demonstration of Seated Tour of New Britain Museum of American Art given by Heather Whitehouse, coordinator of the adult public program. Come enjoy seeing NBMAA from the comfort of your seat. This will be a guided overview of the permanent collection of the oldest American Art Museum in the Country. Scrabble Challenge — There will be a Scrabble Challenge fundraiser in support of Literacy Volunteers of Centeral Connecticut on Wednesday, April 28, at the Aqua Turf Club, Plantsville from 6 to 9 p.m. There will also be a silent/teacup auction. There is a cost per person that will cover a full meal; there will also be a cash bar. The evening includes teams of six to eight people working cooperatively on one board for one round of team Scrabble. You can bring your own team or let them match you up.
